Toughest Trek in South India - Kumara Parvatha Trek, 2019

One of the most popular treks in Karnataka.  This is the second highest peak in the state, after Tadiandamol. It is located in Coorg district and begins in Subramanya village. The mount is located behind the famous Kukke Subramanya temple in the village.  The trek comprises of two peaks, the smaller Shesh Parvatha, and the higher one, Kumara Parvatha at 5,600 ft. The two day trek covers a distance of 14 km each way. The route is closed during the monsoons, and summer. The trail is beautiful, winding through thick deciduous forests and vast meadows. Steep ascents in some parts make it slightly difficult.The jungle is also known to be home to several species of cobras, including the King Cobra, and suitable care must be taken while walking.


We, a gang of 3 people started off from Bangalore. Night at 10:30pm we are in the majestic bus stand.
We just missed that's ordinary (ksrtc sarige) bus. The same time one sleeper bus was parked outside the track. Finally we got seat. 
Up on reaching the town of Kukke early morning 4:30am. We checked into one lodge (Manasa Lodge), where we quickly freshened up (they will charge 100per head) We first visited the Subrahmanya temple and had our breakfast. Fill all the water bottles from the hotel and Took an auto to trek start point. Then we started our trek at around 7.00AM not wasting much time.


You can see entry gate and instruction board at the entrance. Starting point of the trek is a beautiful dense forest. The trek trail is climbing, each 20 minutes we are stopping and take a rest. 
After 6km  forest walk  reached  Bhattara mane (house) around 10:30am.  When we are reaching there we almost tired. He served butter milk to us. After trek drinking buttermilk is like heavenWe decided to climb peak next day We decided to climb peak the next day.   Forest office is located 100 meters away from Bhattara mane
They served us food. Very basic food consisted of rice sambar, buttermilk and pickle. They charged ₹300 per head 2 times food and stay.
After lunch we went for walk around house. There I have seen a lot of veritable and fruit farming and he have a lot of cow's


Next day  morning 5:30 we started from batter mane .Make sure fill all bottles full and cray something to eat after forest office there is no water sours now. Almost 25 people are waiting there for trek. Morning 6 am to 11 am is the entry to peak It will change ₹350 per head. We finished our forest office check-in  formalities started trekking at 6am.



An early morning start will lead you to Kallu Mandapa beside a stream. The hike to Shesh Parvatha is the toughest part of the trek. After Shesh Parvatha, the trail goes downwards to a clearing, after which there is an uphill hike leading to huge boulders. A rocky stretch leads to meadows and then to the summit. The view includes the vast expanse of Madikeri.

Best Time For Kumara Parvatha Trek
